Ford Edge vs 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe | Phoenix, AZ

When shopping for a new family midsize SUV, you are probably going to consider both the 2020 Ford Edge and the 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe. Both are similarly sized and offer great features, but as you can see in our comparison below, there are a few key areas where the Ford Edge beats the Santa Fe.

Engine options

If you are looking for strong performance from your next SUV, the Edge will deliver. It comes standard with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder rated at 250 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. The standard engine on the Santa Fe is just a 2.4-liter four-cylinder with 185 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque.

Both models also offer an engine upgrade; however, once again the Ford Edge is more powerful. The Edge ST models comes with a twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 that produces an impressive 335 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque. The upgraded engine in the Santa Fe is only a turbocharged 2.0-liter with 235 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Still less powerful than the standard engine on the Edge.

The Edge looks even more appealing when you consider that is has nearly identical fuel efficiency for both engines, but with a lot more power.

Cargo space

Another important factor in choosing an SUV is cargo space. Behind the second row of seats, the Edge offers 39.2 cubic feet for cargo. The Santa Fe stops short with just 35.9 cubic feet. You can fold down the rear seats in both models, but the Edge still gives you more. It has a maximum cargo volume of 73.4 cubic feet compared to just 71.3 cubic feet in the Santa Fe.

Connectivity features

You want an SUV that is packed with the modern technology you need to stay connected. The Edge comes standard with an 8-inch touch screen, while the Santa Fe’s standard screen is only 7 inches. The Edge also gives you access to available features like Waze, Ford+Alexa, and FordPass Connect™ 4G LTE Wi-Fi for up to 10 devices. There is no available Wi-Fi for the Santa Fe.

It’s clear that between the Ford Edge and Hyundai Santa Fe, the Edge comes out the winner. Test drive the better midsize SUV at Sanderson Ford!
